The act of marketing one’s services is tactical and requires a level of expertise. Brand owners usually call on the services of individuals or companies for professional help.

As a brand, the content you put out there determines the level of engagement and patronage from consumers. It doesn’t matter what marketing strategy you decide to go with; your content has to be viable and premium. As a matter of fact, your content can determine if your company will grow or not. Ads, flyers, events, social media profiles, and mail marketing are all great ways to get your services known in public. However, did you know that you can promote your business via storytelling?

This is especially great for startup companies, small businesses and non-profits because they usually do not have a large clientele base.

Storytelling is amazing for these types of businesses because a significant percentage of consumers pay more attention to stories. It doesn’t matter what kind of medium; ads or flyers, with a story attached, you most likely will catch the attention of consumers easily.

Here are a few reasons why they are so effective:

The Human Brain Reacts To Emotional Information More

One of the greatest reasons why this method of marketing is so compelling is the fact that humans are built to react to emotional information more. Our brain works in such a way that receives emotional information more than empirical. Thus, most of our decision making is based usually based on the emotional response to situations. According to research, ads with a story attached to them, interest consumers more.

A Good Story Filters Distraction

The human brain is an amazing organ that multitasks every second. Your brain can be focused on several things at a time. However, this tends to stop with storytelling based commercials. Unlike usual forms of marketing processes, those with a story attached to them takes all the distraction away. As a matter of fact, it helps consumers focus on just the story, which makes it easier to remember. Once your commercial or presentation is easy to remember, then you’re good to go.

Gains Attention

A good presentation, ad, or marketing strategy with storytelling attached to it gains a lot of attention. Apart from the fact that it actually gets the attention of consumers, it gains the attention of a larger population. An example is a video explaining a product with storytelling; it can go viral in minutes without any promotion.

As a company, the goal is to market your products and services effectively. Storytelling is a new and unconventional way to do that.
